Magic Lands Lore

Seers and Visions

Ray’s journey begins before he leaves home.

It begins with visions: a wizard, a mountain, dead stone land, flying creatures, and a girl from the Out. These visions frighten him because they reach beyond anything his village can easily explain.

In Doamanse, seeing is never simple. A vision may warn, guide, confuse, or trap.

What Is a Seer?

A seer is one who sees hidden truths, paths, possible futures, or connections others cannot perceive.

Not All-Knowing

Seers are not all-knowing. They do not receive easy answers. Their visions may be fragmented, symbolic, dangerous, or misunderstood by those around them.

A vision may show a destination without showing the road that leads there.

Path and Possibility

A vision may show danger without naming it. It may reveal a person before the seer understands who that person is. It may warn of a possibility rather than a fixed fate.

This makes visions powerful — and dangerous.

Ray, Tall, and the Drawings

Vision, art, and tether connect the two boys before either fully understands the bond.

Ray’s Visions

Ray’s visions pull the Magic Lands story outward from the Inlands to the Stone Lands and beyond. They connect home, danger, the wizard, mountains, and people Ray has not yet met.

His visions make him important before he understands why.

Tall and the Drawings

Tall’s early role is tied to Ray’s visions. He draws what Ray sees with unsettling accuracy, showing that the two boys’ paths are connected long before either fully understands the bond.

Tall’s gift is not the same as Ray’s, but the relationship between drawing, vision, and tether becomes one of the first signs that they are part of a larger pattern.

Visions Are Not Maps

In Doamanse, seeing a path does not mean understanding it.

Fragments

Visions may arrive as pieces: an image, a warning, a face, a place, a creature, or a fear.

Interpretation

Others may interpret, fear, hide, or use visions. That can make prophecy as dangerous as ignorance.

Choice

One of the major questions of Magic Lands is whether seeing a path means being forced to follow it.

The Cost of Prophecy

Prophecy can help, but it can also trap. Ray and Tall must learn what vision reveals — and what it cannot decide for them.
