Magic Lands Character

Ray

Ray is a boy of the Inlands, born to the wet, shifting world of Third Village, Nahterh’n.

He leaves home on what should be a manhood quest. But Ray’s visions reach beyond the living wetlands to dead stone lands, a wizard, a mountain, flying creatures, and people he has not yet met.

His path becomes larger than the rite he set out to complete.

Ray from Magic Lands
Inlander, seer, pathfinder, and chosen companion of True.

Core Identity

Ray is thirteen, son of Waddymarre and Sharah, best friend of Tall, and chosen companion of True.

Inlander Boy

Ray grows up in Third Village, Nahterh’n, in the living wetland world of the Inlands. His instincts are shaped by wet, tremor, creature sign, staff, movement, and village memory.

He is brave but not fearless, stubborn but tender, quick to act, deeply loyal, and often more comfortable moving than admitting fear.

Quest and Burden

Ray’s first path is the expected manhood quest of his people. But the visions surrounding him make that path larger, stranger, and more dangerous than he expects.

He begins by leaving home. He soon learns that the world beyond home has already been reaching toward him.

Ray’s Gift

Ray’s gift is tied to vision and pathfinding.

Seer

Ray sees things beyond his own experience, and those visions make him important before he understands why.

Seers & Visions

Pathfinder

Ray is drawn toward routes, choices, and dangers others cannot yet see. His gift pulls the story outward.

Regions

Not a Simple Chosen Hero

Ray’s greatest danger is the temptation to believe that protecting others means controlling the path around them.

Ray and True

True is Ray’s slither companion. Their bond begins with egg, danger, naming, and return.

True’s return matters because it shows that Ray’s first great bond is chosen, not forced.

Ray and Tall

Ray and Tall are best friends, but their roles are different. Ray is the pathfinder. Tall is the connector.

Ray’s visions pull the story outward; Tall’s bonds reveal what lies beneath. Together, they are two halves of the answer to the wizard’s system.

Ray’s Central Question

Can Ray protect what he loves without trying to own, command, or control it?

That question begins in fear and grows with every step beyond home.

Follow Ray’s Path

Ray begins as an Inlander boy on a rite of passage, but his visions open the road into the wider Magic Lands.
